TLILIC0004 – Licence to Operate an Order Picking Forklift Truck
Overview of the Course
Our order picker forklift training in Melbourne covers the functions required to operate an order picking forklift truck and (if competent) apply for a high-risk work licence. This course is for beginners as well as experienced operators. Our experienced high-risk work trainers work with participants to ensure they are confident and competent in operating a forklift truck.
The WorkSafe “LO” Licence allows you to operate order picking forklifts. Using these forklifts, operators wear a harness and generally pick stock from racking or shelving to fill an order for a customer. Order picker forklifts are specialised forklifts and are not the same as the “LF” category.
Course Duration
The course runs for 2x 8 hour days OR 3x 8 hour days (this is recommended for students with no experience or those with English as a second language.)
Certification
Participants who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised.

Course Inclusions

What Are The Entry Requirements?
Australian Vocational Training has the following entry requirements:
- All students must be over 18 years of age.
- Students must reside in Victoria, or, if they are not a Victorian resident, have a valid reason for applying for their forklift licence in Victoria.
- Participants are required to have general good health and fitness. Any pre-existing medical conditions that will affect the training must be disclosed prior to attending.
- For the LO Licence Course, trainees must have adequate English language skills to safely complete tasks relating to forklifts, such as being able to:
- Read and correctly interpret safe work method statements, forklift specifications and data plates
- Complete paperwork such as risk assessments and logbook entries
- Calculate load weights and ensure safe working loads aren’t exceeded
- Speak English clearly
- Explain, describe and verify sometimes complex needs and issues

Re-Assessment
If you are deemed ‘Not Yet Competent’, you will have the option to sit a re-assessment within 60 days from the first assessment. Only one re-assessment is permitted.
Worksafe Licence information
Upon successful completion of our order picking forklift truck license course, trainees will be issued with a WorkSafe Notice of Assessment (which can be lodged at Australia Post or online via myworksafe.vic.gov.au along with the lodgement fee of $68.80) and a Statement of Attainment.
